1) Department of Psychiatry's Annual Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Case Conference Please join us for the Department of Psychiatry's Annual Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Case Conference: Sins and Sensibility: A Psychotherapeutic Journey Toward Self-Acceptance Saturday, Jan. 28 9 am to 12:30 pm MGH O'Keefe Auditorium Co-sponsored by the MGH Center for Psychodynamic Therapy and Research and the MGH Endowment for the Advancement of Psychotherapy. We are continuing the tradition started over 30 years ago by our beloved mentors and teachers, Drs. Anne Alonso, Joe Schwartz, and Aaron Lazare. Faculty and trainees came together on Saturday mornings and, together, they would learn about what it means to become a therapist with all of its challenges, dilemmas and rewards while discussing the case from various theoretical frameworks. The case conference has always been a source of pride and a highlight in the department and residency training experience. Presenter: Hannah Brown, MD – Dr. Brown will describe her work with a man who strives to overcome feelings of shame in therapy. Themes of desire and faith, connection and alienation, and fulfillment and disappointment challenge the therapist as she tries to help the patient find his place in the world.
