Peter L. Slavin, MD, MGH president, has been selected as the 2010-2011 chair of the Association of American Medical College’s (AAMC) Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH) administrative board.
COTH represents the interests of major teaching hospitals in the United States and Canada.Through its 21-member administrative board, the council serves as the principal source of hospital and health system input into overall AAMC policy and direction.
As chair of the administrative board, Slavin will work with COTH members to focus on issues such as federal health reform, Medicare direct and indirect medical education payments, disproportionate share payments, teaching physician regulations and coverage of investigational devices.
"I'm honored to take on this new role," says Slavin. "I look forward to collaborating with other COTH members and leadership on the key policy and management issues facing teaching hospitals and health systems."
