A new year, a new health and fitness commitment

HEALTHY START TO 2011: Clubs at Charles River Park staff members Steve Power and Katie Morgis demonstrate using the new elliptical machines.

Guests at the Clubs at Charles River Park aiming to meet their New Year’s resolutions to tone up or lose weight now have 12 additional reasons to do so. The wellness center at the MGH has added a dozen new elliptical machines for exercisers to burn calories and strengthen muscles. In addition to these new machines, 15 new spin bicycles have been added, and the club’s website at has been upgraded to include an informational exercise-focused blog, improved group fitness schedule functionality and a free one-week trial membership offer.

“We are ringing in the new year with a number of great enhancements at the Clubs at Charles River Park,” says Cliff Seeto, general manager.  “With some great new equipment, our improvements to the website and one-week trial offer, we are pleased to provide the MGH and local community the opportunity to try the clubs and get fit and healthy for the new year.”

Throughout January, the club will host an open house each Friday from 5:30 am to 10 pm, during which interested individuals can speak with club representatives and tour the facilities. Several introductory group fitness classes will be offered for new and returning exercisers. On these Fridays, MGH employees who have not taken advantage of the free week trial can present their hospital ID for a complimentary workout.
