More than 4,000 employees in Operations Support roles were honored during the annual Operations Support Staff Day luncheon under the Bulfinch Tent on June 30. The event featured the awarding of the 2011 Ricardo Diaz Memorial Award to Christopher Tiglianidis, a locksmith in the Buildings and Grounds Department.

“Chris is like a GPS,” says Allan Dolinski, area manager for Environmental Services, who nominated Tiglianidis for the award. “At MGH, he’s been here, there and everywhere.”

Dolinski said Tiglianidis, known affectionately as “Chris the Locksmith,” has worked at the MGH for 41 years and is well-known and liked by everyone he comes across. At the ceremony, Tiglianidis was joined by his wife, children and other family members, whom he thanked for their love and support.

The Ricardo Diaz Award is named after a former Buildings and Grounds employee who died in an accident while plowing snow at the MGH in 2003. It annually is awarded to an employee who exhibits Diaz’s qualities: hard work, dedication and selflessness.
