Tender visit at MGHfC

SCORING SMILES: Rask visits with 4-year-old Gabriel Silverman

“OH MY GOD it’s Tuukka! It’s Tuukka,” yelled Josh Hume, 18, as he watched the Boston Bruins goaltender walk into a nearby pediatric patient’s room on Ellison 18. Hume and Max Shaw, 18, grabbed their friend Joshua Sharpe, 19, a patient at the hospital, and brought him back into his room to await their turn with Tuukka Rask. Rask, who is recuperating from a groin injury, decided to make a surprise visit to patients at MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC) on March 21. Hume and Shaw had picked a great day to visit their friend. While on the pediatric floors, Rask handed out Bruins gift bags filled with memorabilia and signed pillowcases and pictures. He stopped to chat with patients and their loved ones, sharing stories, giving high-fives and answering questions about his injury.
