EVERYDAY EXCELLENCE: PIE recipients and their colleagues celebrate during the ceremony.
A total 1,775 MGHers were selected as recipients from among the record number of nominations submitted for the 2011 Partners in Excellence (PIE) awards. With their colleagues, family members and friends looking on, the MGH awardees gathered together April 16 for the annual PIE ceremony in the Bulfinch Tents. The ceremony featured remarks by Jeff Davis, senior vice president of Human Resources, Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH, and Gary L. Gottlieb, MD, MBA, president and CEO of Partners HealthCare.
“Just like the Boston Marathon draws some of the world’s top athletes, it seems the MGH and Partners attract the best and brightest individuals in the field of health care,” said Slavin. He gave an overview of milestones the hospital marked during 2011, noting that none of them would have been possible without MGH employees, including those present in the tent.
Waiting in line for a photo opportunity with Slavin and Gottlieb, Anthony Clachar, a supervisor for Materials Management, said this is the second time he has received the award. “I always look forward to the event. It is really nice to be recognized.”
The PIE award program recognizes employees and teams nominated by their colleagues for outstanding contributions in the categories of quality treatment and service; leadership and innovation; teamwork; operational efficiency; and outstanding community contributions.
