MGH Photography and Human Resources have posted an online photo gallery from Tuesday’s event Worls Series Trophy photo event. One complimentary 4x6 print per person in each image will be available for pick up from MGH Photography. To pick up your photo, follow these simple steps:

2014 MGHfC Quality and Safety Mini Grant Applications now available
The Mini-Grant Program was created to help support quality and safety projects across MGHfC. Last year, this program awarded approximately $6,000 in mini-grant funding for four multidisciplinary process improvement efforts. Project proposals with a focus on "improving the patient experience or the culture of safety at MGHfC" are strongly encouraged, though not required. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 27 to Natalie Johnson. Applicants will be notified of final decisions in January 2014. Simmons health care MBA program offering up to 30K scholarships for MGHers
Simmons College School of Management is accepting applications for January and September admission into its part-time Health Care MBA program. MGH employees are eligible to apply for a Future Health Care Leaders Scholarship. The Future Health Care Leaders Scholarship is a merit-based award given to applicants who have demonstrated both academic achievements and professional success in the health care industry. The 2013 Farahe Maloof Lecture
The 2013 Farahe Maloof Lecture, “Embracing Complexity: the Role of Drosophila in Therapeutics of Medullary Thyroid and Other Cancers,” will be held from noon to 1 pm, Dec. 3 in the Ether Dome. This year’s speaker is Ross L. Cagan, PhD, from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, who is revolutionizing the field of cancer therapeutics. His model systems identify drugs and drug combinations that attack appropriate molecular targets. He is currently working on modifying promising cancer drugs to maximize potency and minimize toxicity.
Nominate teams or leaders for the 2014 Service Excellence Awards
A new award recognizes achievement related to patient survey scores and also recognizes teams and leaders who have helped create an outstanding patient experience. The first group of awards will be linked directly to 2013 inpatient and outpatient survey results. The second group of awards -- for teams and leaders -- will be chosen from nominations submitted by MGH employees. The Patient Experience Leadership Council, comprised mostly of senior management, will select winners.

"Train the Trainer in Office Ergonomics" course
The PHS Occupational Health Ergonomics, "Train the Trainer in Office Ergonomics" course is offered to individuals interested in helping their colleagues set up a more ergonomically correct computer workstation. A ‘trained trainer' will act as their department's ‘point person' or ‘ergonomic champion' and will conduct basic office ergonomic evaluations. This interactive class will use a combination of lecture, case study examples, equipment demonstration and hands-on evaluation of a computer workstation to teach the process of evaluating workstations and work postures. The class will be held from 8:45 am to 12:15 pm, Dec. 17 at MGH Training and Workforce Development, Charles River Plaza, 165 Cambridge St, Second Floor, Suite 200. Global Health Certificates at the MGH Institute of Health Professions
The MGH Institute of Health Professions School of Nursing, in conjunction with clinicians at Partners, has created two certificates in Global Health Nursing. A 9-credit fully online Certificate of Completion is available for RNs with a baccalaureate degree or higher and a 15-credit Certificate of Advanced Study is available for master's-prepared nurses. Both programs offer flexible schedules in order to accommodate working professionals. Start either program this January by enrolling in Introduction to Global Health or Immigrant and Refugee Health.
Call for Applications for the Corrigan Minehan "SPARK" Awards
The Institute for Heart, Vascular and Stroke Care is accepting applications for the 2014 SPARK Awards. Targeted towards junior faculty members, these philanthropy-supported grants serve to support innovative, cross-disciplinary research. The submission deadline is 5 pm, Jan. 10. “Legal Rights and Resources for Survivors”
The MGH Domestic Violence Legal Partnership is hosting a workshop from 10 am to 11 am, Dec. 11 at the Yawkey Conference Room 2-210. The workshop will provide a general overview of the legal issues commonly facing survivors of domestic violence and the legal resources available. Guest Speaker Attorney Christopher Logue will provide several case examples from his experience at the MGH Domestic Violence Legal Partnership and will explain how MGH staff and patients can access the services of this partnership.
