Family fun at Fenway

HELPING HAND: Natalie Albrittain-Ross, of Speech, Language, Swallowing and Reading Disabilities, helps out at one of the tables at the Festival

More than 65 exhibitors filled Fenway Park July 23 to educate, promote and engage with attendees about health and wellness at the annual El Mundo Latino Family Festival. The MGH hosted two tables – featuring staff and informational materials from programs including Childhood Obesity Prevention, the Diabetes Center and the Speech, Language, Swallowing and Reading Disabilities. Some 300 visitors explored resources and received screenings during the event, which also included giveaways of water bottles and squishy brain toys.

The MGH Committee for Latino Initiatives also raffled off tickets to New England Revolution soccer games as well as two bicycles, encouraging young people to stay active.

“The family festival is a great opportunity to reach out into the Latino community,” says Milton Calderon, volunteer coordinator in the MGH Volunteer Department, member of the Committee for Latino Initiatives, and chair of the El Mundo Latino Family Festival. “It was also a wonderful chance to come together as a team representing MGH and promoting health and well-being in our community.”
