REPRIEVE MR: Characterizing cardiac dysfunction in HIV and testing the effect of statins

 

Dr. Neilan is the co-PI on a NIH-funded multi-center randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial testing whether statins prevent the progression of cardiac dysfunction among person’s living with HIV (PLWHIV). Working with Dr. Markella Zanni from the Program in Nutritional Metabolism, he aims to use MRI, MRS and immune phenotyping to characterize the mechanisms involved in the development of cardiac dysfunction in HIV and to test the effect of statins on the progression of cardiac dysfunction over two years.
