The following personal and interpretive services are available to patients and health care providers.
ASL Interpreter
An American Sign Language/English interpreter is available for patients and visitors to Mass General 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
CART (Communication Access Real-time Translation) Services
Using CART, professional captioners type the speaker’s words into text, which can be read on a computer screen.
Videophone
A videophone is available in the White Lobby for deaf patients and visitors to call hearing providers through a video relay service or to make calls to other deaf videophone users. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Closed Caption Television
Televisions with closed captions are available in patient rooms and public places at the hospital. Closed captioning is controlled by the television remote.
