There are many websites with detailed information on the disorders we are studying. The following is by no means a complete list of all relevant sites, but is meant to be a useful guide to families.

Autism

Autism Society of America

This site includes a thorough description of Autism including characteristics of the disorder, diagnosis, different types of autism and PDDs, behaviors of children with autism, and treatment methods.

Autism Center Patient Guide
Includes resources for parents such as suggested books and articles, and information on education and medication for individuals with autism.

National Institute of Mental Health Autism
This site has detailed information on autism. It includes comparisons of development in autism to normal development and examples of children with autism. It also provides symptom descriptions, treatment and intervention methods, and resources.

National Alliance for Autism Research

A national non-profit organization devoted to supporting biomedical research in autism and related disorders. This site provides information about research on autism.

Autism-PDD Resources Network
Complete information on Autism Spectrum Disorders, including background, diagnosis, treatments, parent resources, education, and forums.

Autism Web
Background information on autism, as well as information on education strategies, diet, recommended reading, and resources.

TEACCH
This is the TEACCH website which details information about their program. It includes approaches to teaching children with autism, as well as their research and training opportunities.

Online Asperger Syndrome Information & Support
This site provides a great deal of information about Asperger syndrome and related disorders.

The Yale Child Study Center
This site contains clinical information, research, and related links.

Autism Society of America

Ooops…wrong planet!
This site provides a long list of links about autism and related disorders. The site was created by a woman with Asperger’s syndrome, who has a son with Autism.

Matches parents with other parents of children with similar conditions for information exchange and support.

Tourette Syndrome Resources

Tourette’s Syndrome Association
This website has information on the disorder, current research and publications, treatment, and patient advocacy. Additionally, it has special sections for newly diagnosed patients and their families, and for children with TS.

Massachusetts chapter of the TSA
Provides links to other websites and support groups in the Boston area and throughout country.

Tourette Syndrome Online
Provides general information, suggested readings, education, and information on related disorders.

National Institutes of Health
Provides general information, as well as information on diagnosis and treatment.


Kids Health
Great website for kids with lots of information and support.

Tourette Syndrome "Plus"
This site is intended for patients, families, teachers and clinicians, and offers a broad array of information on living with Tourette’s syndrome. Information about medications, patient advocacy, support programs, summer camps for affected children, and support for parents and teachers can all be found here.

Tourette Syndrome Support
A large support network is found within this website, which offers support forums, mailing lists, newsletters, and chat lists. This site also offers information on reading lists, interesting facts about TS, and information on related disorders.

Guide to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Tourette Syndrome
This page gives diagnostic and treatment information for Tourette’s syndrome.

Society for Neuroscience
This links to a brief article discussing the underlying brain mechanisms believed to be associated with TS psychopathology.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Information and Resources

National Institute of Mental Health
This site, a subsidiary of the National Institute of Health, gives an overview of OCD, including epidemiological statistics, treatment resources and news, and information on current research.

Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation

This is a site devoted to information, resources and interesting facts about obsessive-compulsive disorder. This site also offers information about OCD in the media, and discusses movies and television shows that feature portrayals of individuals with OCD.

Kids Health
This web page offers kid-friendly information about obsessive-compulsive disorder and its manifestation in children. Siblings of affected children may find this website to be a helpful guide in gaining further information about their brother’s or sister’s condition.

MayoClinic
This web page gives a basic, well-informed overview of OCD.

The American Psychiatric Association
T he latest news and research in the field of psychiatry.

The American Psychological Association
Similar to the American Psychiatric Association web site. It provides quick links to psychological news -- regarding conferences, consumer help centers, and press releases. There is also information about testing and assessment, and an on-line search for psychologists.

American Medical Association
Provides easy-to-understand health information for all ages. A great way to learn more about current health policy and reform. Also includes a user-friendly physician search.

National Institute of Health

A large “umbrella” site about current research in psychology and psychiatry as well as other disciplines. Includes information on NIH institutions and programs sites across the country.

National Institutes of Mental Health
Provides a more focused look at current issues in mental health.
