Niall Lennon, PhD

The goals of Niall's research are to characterize the biological properties of dysferlin and understand its role in the pathogenesis of limb girdle muscular dystrophy and Miyoshi myopathy. The study of global gene expression in both normal and dysferlin-deficient muscle is the main short-term goal of Niall's study.

Niall is a post-doctoral research fellow who recently arrived from Ireland where he completed his Ph.D. thesis, on the abnormal oligomerization of calcium regulatory proteins in cardiomyopathic myocardial fibres, at the Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research. Previous to his Ph.D. work, Niall received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Pharmacology at University College Dublin, Ireland.
