Course overview:
Current understanding of homeostasis, stress, genomics, and elicitation of the relaxation response (RR) offers new insights into the causes and treatments of disease.
Through mechanisms and mediators within the stress system, emotional and physical stressors challenge the body. The magnitude and chronicity of these stressors can result in pathogenic processes that are both causal and contributory to many diseases and conditions.
Understanding the interface among stressors, pathogenic processes, and disease is critical to the prevention and treatment of many disease states, and to the promotion of well-being. This course will give you tools that will enable you to use mind body techniques to help your patients restore balance and enhance personal resilience.
Curriculum:
The course is designed to encourage participant interaction through a combination of multimedia presentations and skill development exercises, aimed to help participants:
-Integrate mind/body interventions into their practice
-Learn about cognitive strategies that work to ease profound suffering via evidence-based interventions
-Explore the relationship between nutrition and mood
-Review neuro-endocrine-immune physiology of positive emotions
-Cultivate of humor and laughter
-Learn ways to utilize therapeutic movement
