Tenth Annual Medical Service Challenge Blood Drive

Challenge Time Frame: May 1 - 30

Whole Blood Donation:

  • Appointments are strongly encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
  • The entire process takes approximately 30 minutes, and the donation itself is about 7 – 10 minutes. Afterwards you will be free to resume your normal daily activities.
  • Whole Blood Hours: Tuesday – Thursday 7:30am – 5:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • 1 Whole Blood Donation = 1 Point towards the Challenge!

Platelet Donation:

  • Appointments for platelet donation are required.
  • For an appointment or for more information about platelet donation, please contact Mary Kate Callaway at 617-726-8171 or email mcallaway@partners.org
  • The entire process takes approximately 2 hours, and the donation itself is about 90 minutes. Afterwards you will be free to resume your normal daily activities.
  • Platelet Donation Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 5:00pm (final appointment begins at 5pm), Friday 8:30am – 3:00pm (final appointment begins at 3pm)
  • 1 Platelet Donation = 2 Points towards the Challenge! *Special prizes for platelet donors

Eligibility Time Frames:

  • You are eligible to donate Whole Blood every 56 days.
  • You are eligible to donate Platelets every 7 days.
  • You are eligible to donate Platelets and Whole Blood just 3 days apart.

*Please Note: If you would like to make both Platelet and Whole Blood donations during the Medical Service Challenge, we would strongly recommend that your platelet donation(s) precede your whole blood donation. (A whole blood donation may decrease your hemoglobin level for several weeks, making you ineligible to donate platelets on the basis of hemoglobin requirement. It is unlikely that a platelet donation will decrease your hemoglobin level).
