Our Firefighting Friends

At Massachusetts General Hospital, we recognize that we wouldn't have the opportunity to provide care for patients if it weren't for the work of our firefighting colleagues and emergency medical personnel in the field. We are continually impressed by their selfless efforts and touched by their unflagging drive to help others in need. We share in their desire to preserve lives.

In 2004, the Mass General Burn Center started a partnership with the Boston Firefighter Foundation. As part of this partnership, we've provided education for firefighters, . firefighters have provided education for us, and together, we've provided education on burn and fire prevention to the community.

More importantly, we know that a firefighter's commitment doesn't end when the fire is out. We know that they wonder what happened to the person they pulled from the flames, and we know that their tight-knit community is rocked when one of their own is hurt in the line of duty. At Mass General, we consider ourselves to a be a resource to our colleagues in the field, and we encourage them to contact us whenever they need information or support.
