JPEGs names: please rename as follows: Number, Artist’s last name, Title.

    • 2. Smith Colorful Lights
    • 3. Smith Study in Green

RESTRICTIONS:

  • Image size can be no larger than 42 inches in height and no smaller than 16"x20" (vertical or horizontal). It is important for artists and photographers, especially,  to understand that 16”x20” refers to image size NOT frame size. Unfortunately, we find smaller work is not well viewed given the constraints of our waiting rooms.
  • In regards to imagery and content, we ask contributors to keep in mind that the audience for these exhibits will include patients with cancer and their families, who will be sensitive to the mood and subject conveyed by the painting, sculpture, or photograph. Harsh, potentially disturbing, or confusing images, despite their artistic value, will likely not be accepted for display. As you select the artwork you will submit for review, it may be helpful for you to consider your work from these perspectives. For further details please read the complete guidelines for artwork in the Hospital Environment available on our website as a PDF. Thank you for appreciating our sensitivity to these issues.

ACCEPTED WORK:

  • Generally, we will exhibit 8-20 pieces of work per artist, although we are open to reviewing more than that number. Only pieces that have been submitted for review will be considered for display.
  • Every effort is made to hang as much of an artist’s work as possible, however, all submitted pieces may not be used based on patient/staff reactions or space constraints.
  • All pieces must be wired and ready to hang on our track hanging system that consists of rods and hooks (no gator clips, etc.)

FRAMING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Artwork: may be framed in matching or coordinating frames. Finished edge canvases are also acceptable.

  • Photography and digital art: our preference is for matching or coordinating frames. Photography mounted as follows will also be considered, on a case by case basis:
  • metal prints
  • canvas gallery wrapped prints (high resolution/quality printing)
  • minimum 3/16” gatorboard (thin frame preferred but not necessary - no glass or mat required).

Please specify in your application which method you will use.

DELIVERY AND RETRIEVAL:

  • Selected artists are fully responsible for the delivery of their work to and from the Cancer Center.
  • The Illuminations program does not accept or send shipments of artwork or photography.
  • The Cancer Center does not have storage capacity to save boxes or materials that artwork is delivered in, nor will it be responsible for packing and shipping artwork to an artist.
  • Artwork will be carefully bubble wrapped and ready for artist pick up at the completion of the exhibit.

INSURANCE:

  • The artist is fully responsible for any insurance of his/her work during transit as well as exhibition.
  • While utmost care is given to all entries, the Cancer Center does not assume liability for damage or loss before, during or after the exhibition.

AGREEMENT:

  • Submission of digital images to this exhibition constitutes agreement on the part of the artist to all the terms and conditions of this application.
