The seventh annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, held in Boston the weekend of May 17, 2009, helped raise $5.6 million to advance access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer.
Avon Walk for Breast Cancer
The event attracted over 2,500 participants drawn from 37 states, including 214 breast cancer survivors, who joined together to raise lifesaving funds for breast cancer. As a result of these efforts the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center received a $750,000 award to continue Avon funded research studies and access to care programs at the Avon Foundation Comprehensive Breast Evaluation Center. Kristen Barnicle, Manager of Community Benefit Partners, accepted the award on the Mass General Cancer Center's behalf.
