Beginning July 20, the Mass Department of Transportation is going to begin a multi-year renovation project on the Longfellow Bridge, the bridge that connects our Mass General campus at Charles Street with Cambridge.
Longfellow Bridge Renovations
Initially, just one lane (from Cambridge to Boston) will be open and you will not be able to drive over the bridge from Boston back to Cambridge. Additionally, MBTA Red Line service is meant to be running normally during the week, but suspended on the weekends for the next 20+ weekends.
What does that mean to you? We might expect that traffic patterns around the Mass General campus will be more congested --- so we suggest that you plan accordingly and give yourself additional time to get to and from your appointments.
Your Cancer Center team members are aware of the situation and will be as accommodating as possible. Please be patient during this transition.
U.S. News & World Report ranks Mass General #2 in the nation and #1 in New England based on our quality of care, patient safety and reputation in 16 clinical specialties.
