Our Clinical Programs
MassGeneral CancerCare for Children, Boston, MAThe Center for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology is part of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and the MassGeneral Hospital for Children. It is the oldest provider of pediatric services in Boston. In 1999 the children's service was restructured to sharpen its focus on the comprehensive care of children and renamed the MassGeneral Hospital for Children.

The hospital is dedicated to providing outstanding personalized, developmentally appropriate care for infants, school-aged children and adolescents within the context of their family and community. It provides world-class pediatric care, conducts cutting edge research, and is a leading training ground for medical and nursing students and for interns and residents pursuing a career in pediatrics. The MassGeneral Hospital for Children is under the leadership of Dr. Alan Ezekowitz who is well known for his leadership, clinical care, and research in the area of immunity.

In 1996, Dr. Howard J. Weinstein was recruited from Children's Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston to become the director of the Center for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. Under his leadership, clinical care and research in pediatric oncology and blood diseases have greatly expanded and have become integrated with pediatric surgery and radiation oncology and other pediatric subspecialty services to create multidisciplinary programs. Several of these new initiatives include:

  • Pediatric Brain Tumor clinic
  • Pediatric stroke clinic
  • Joint pediatric-adult program in hemophilia and thrombophilia, and autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplant program.
