From Bench to Bedside
Alice Shaw, MD, PhD, recently presented early promising results of a clinical trial that is investigating a new ALK1 inhibitor drug. During the World Lung Cancer Conference, which was held in late July in San Francisco, Dr. Shaw updated the group with data showing dramatic results in patients undergoing a novel treatment for non-small lung cancer. The new drug, which is an oral medication, has shown to be effective in patients whose tumors have been genetically tested and found to express the ALK1 mutation. The open trial is expanding and will be enrolling new patients in various cancer centers across the country. Dr. Shaw is the principal investigator.
