The
MassGeneral CancerCare for Children
participates in two organizations devoted
to childhood and adolescent cancer research.
They are:
- Children's
Oncology Group (COG), a National
Cancer Institute-supported clinical
trials cooperative group consisting
of 238 member institutions which
include cancer centers of all
major universities and teaching hospitals
throughout the United States
and Canada.
- The second multi-centered
group is Pediatric
Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC).
MassGeneral CancerCare for
Children is one of ten founding
member academic medical
institutions. The PBTC is
a unique group devoted to
further advancing the care,
treatment, and research
of brain tumors in children.
Some of their innovative
strategies include new biological
therapies and chemotherapy
regimens as well as novel
neurosurgical procedures
and radiation therapy techniques.
