What does “soft tissue”
mean?
Sarcomas start in tissues called connective
tissues. Connective tissue include bones,
cartilage, muscles, nerves, fat, blood
and lymph vessels, tendons, ligaments,
and skin. “Soft tissue” means
the sarcoma started in a connective tissue
other than bone or cartilage.

Is surgery enough? Or will I need
chemotherapy too? How is treatment decided?
When all the tests, Xrays, and biopsies
are completed, the results should be considered
by a panel of specialists in sarcoma treatment.
For small, low grade tumors, treatment
may involve surgery alone. Whereas large,
high grade tumors may need radiation,
surgery and chemotherapy for adequate
treatment. Each patient is unique so treatment
should be individually designed. The necessary
surgery, radiation and chemotherapy differ
in extent, timing, and combination for
each tumor being treated.
What can you tell me about chemotherapy
