Esophagus: Front
This illustration shows the lymph nodes in the chest and in the gastrointestinal tract of the body.

  • The esophagus goes from the lowest part of the throat, through the chest, across the diaphragm, to the top of the stomach.
  • The esophagus and the trachea are close together in the upper part of the chest.
  • The esophagus and trachea separate. The trachea divides into two bronchi and the esophagus continues down the stomach.
  • The green colored objects are lymph nodes and lymph vessels.
