The Lungs: Front View
The front view of the lungs illustrates how air flows from the nose into the lungs and how the air is exchanged inside the lung itself.

  • Air flows from the nose or mouth down the throat into the trachea
  • The trachea divides into two bronchi, one for the right lung and one for the left lung
  • The bronchi divide into smaller and smaller branches
  • At the end of each branch is an alveolus which is like a group of tiny connected balloons. This is where fresh air coming in and used air going out are exchanged
