Nanoparticle Enhanced MRI

This new imaging technique more accurately detects metastases that are too small to be seen using conventional means. This method, which combines MRI (high-resolution magnetic resonance image) and lymphotrophic superparamagnetic nanoparticles, has sensitivity of 88.2%, specificity of 92%, and accuracy of 90.4% in these patients.

This technique is currently undergoing evaluation by the FDA for clinical use. This is also called Combidex.
