MGHers elevate clinical care in Bangladesh: Bimalangshu Ranjan Dey, MD, of the MGH Cancer Center, begins where his story began – his birthplace of Bangladesh. Dey left the country when he was 18, but he always believed that one day he would return to use his skills and passion to improve the health and well-being of the people of Bangladesh.
Lacy Neff, a radio broadcaster from West Virginia, recently underwent a heart transplant as part of his treatment plan for amyloidosis, a rare disease that occurs when amyloid proteins accumulate in the organs. The MGH is one of only seven hospitals in the United States studying cardiac amyloid transplants – and the only one in the Northeast.
On June 8, the Bangladesh Minister of Health and Family Welfare, A. F. M. Ruhal Haque, MBBS, met with MGH staff members to discuss longstanding collaborations between Bangladesh health care services and various MGH departments.
