The Katherine A. Gallagher Integrative Therapies Program includes wellness services, also called integrative or complementary therapies, which are used along with traditional medical treatment. They focus on healing your mind, body and spirit.
Free Wellness Services in Treatment Areas
Wellness services can help you cope with your stress, and relieve some of the side effects of cancer treatment like fatigue and nausea. These services, which are provided for brief 20-minute sessions, include:
- Relaxation massage
- Ear acupuncture

Free Wellness Workshops
These wellness classes can help reduce your stress by calming your mind and body. They can also gently build up your strength by increasing flexibility and balance.

Acupuncture and Massage Clinic (fee for service)
This clinic offers full-body acupuncture and therapeutic massage for Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center patients. Licensed acupuncturists and massage therapists who have experience treating patients with cancer provide one-hour sessions for a fee. These services may help to:
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Relieve symptoms and side effects like insomnia, fatigue, pain and chemotherapy-related nausea
Acupuncture and massage are provided on Wednesdays from 1-5 pm in the Cox Building. Acupuncture is also provided on Fridays from 1-5 pm in the Yawkey Center. To make an appointment or get more information, please call 617-724-6737.
