Why Cancer Types are Grouped Together
There are many different types of cancer. As you learn about your particular type, it will help if you understand the larger group of your diagnosis fits in. Cancer diagnoses may be grouped in different ways.

  • General body system, for example, Gastrointestinal or Skin Cancers
  • Type of cells where the cancer starts, for example, an adenocarcinoma is cancer that starts in gland cells.
  • Location of the cancer, for example, Breast Cancer.
  • Age, for example, Childhood Cancers.
