The
Marjorie E. Korff PACT Program provides individual
consultation to adults with cancer, their
spouses, and their children in various
inpatient and outpatient settings. Keeping
in mind that parents are experts on
their own children, staff members provide
guidance about how to explain and discuss
the illness with children, how to address
common questions and behavior changes,
how to prepare children for hospital
visits, as well as how to cope with
concerns about a particular child.

Paula
Rauch, MD and Anna Muriel MD, MPH have
written a new book, "Raising An Emotionally
Healthy Child When A Parent is Sick"
which discusses how a parent's sickness
can be an enormously challenging time
for the whole family:
- The
child’s reaction to and understanding
of the situation may be the hardest issue
for a parent to address.
- Helping children cope can be especially
difficult when the parent is dying.
This
book is available in the Massachusetts
General Hospital General Store: 617-726-2227.
