Zazil Merdones, a senior at Urban Science Academy and West Roxbury resident, spoke at the Partners HealthCare college scholarships announcement with Mayor Thomas Menino at Boston City Hall recently. Partners and its founding hospitals, Brigham and Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals, announced a $10 million scholarship initiative to support more than 400 Boston area students interested in careers in health and science and participating in the hospital youth achievement programs. 

Merdones is a MGH Bicentennial Scholar and will attend Fitchburg State University and will study pre-nursing.
