The Charlestown Substance Abuse Coalition, a program of the MGH Center for Community Health Improvement, the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce and Boston Police, recently hosted the fifth annual “Take Back” prescription drug disposal day. Karen Ryle, associate chief of Pharmacy for the MGH, says that 740 unused or expired prescriptions were removed from Charlestown, and disposed of in a safe and timely manner. Residents who dropped off unused prescriptions also received a $5 gift card from a local business.
