Wellness and Health Promotion Center New!

The goal of the Wellness and Health Promotion Center is to enhance the well-being and quality of life for patients served through MGH Community HealthCare Centers, by providing culturally appropriate, easily accessible and affordable wellness and health promotion programs.

Women’s Heart Health

A personalized program “HAPPY Heart Trial" (Heart Awareness and Primary Prevention in Your neighborhood) for women aged 40-60 years, to help incorporate preventive strategies into daily life, including exercise, weight loss, smoking cessation and stress reduction. This is a pilot project, developed and directed by Malissa Wood, MD, FACC, from the MGH Division of Cardiology and Women's Heart Center. Patients need to be followed by a primary care physician at MGH-Revere Heathcare Center or MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center, and meet other eligibility criteria to participate. Stress Reduction

Stress Reduction Study for Patients with Depression
This study is conducted in partnership with the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine. A six-week group stress reduction program for patients 21 or older, who are being treated for depression. Includes relaxation, stretching, nutrition and meditation. Taught by practitioners trained at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine. Yoga and Tai Chi

Gentle Chair Yoga
A very easy beginner level class, with gentle stretching and relaxation. It is geared for patients who may be dealing with other chronic health issues. Taught by Luba Zagachin, M.S. Call 781-485-6400 for cost information and schedule.

Beginner Yoga
A more challenging beginner class for people looking for a gentle form of exercise to increase flexibility, balance and strength, and to help reduce stress. Must be able to lay down on yoga mat. Taught by Luba Zagachin, M.S. Call 781-485-6400 for cost information and schedule.

Therapeutic Exercise for At-Risk Elders
A therapeutic exercise program geared towards improving balance, strength, endurance and functional ability for people over 65.years. Most insurance will cover if eligible. Provided byMGH-Revere Physical Therapy Department. By in-house referral only.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves using hair-thin, sterile, disposable needles that are gently inserted at specific points of the body, stimulating the body’s natural energy, and enhancing the body’s self-healing processes.

Tai Chi
Slow, graceful movements that help improve the flow of energy, calm the mind, and reduce stress.
