Dr. Browning completed a pediatrics residency and Chief Residency at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, where she worked in the neurobehavioral laboratory of Dr. Anne Foundas. She was the recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Award and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Browning then completed a Clinical Genetics and Biochemical Genetics fellowship at the combined Harvard Medical School Genetics Training Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and Children’s Hospital. Dr. Browning also completed the Harvard Medical School Scholars in Clinical Science Program, receiving a Masters in Medical Science Degree from HMS in the field of translational clinical research working on fatty acid oxidation defects in pregnancy.
Dr. Browning treats patients with metabolic diseases as well as conducting research in the field. She is currently working in the laboratory of Dr. Susan Slaugenhaupt, looking at the pathophysiology of mucolipidosis IV (MLIV) and genes that may be corollaries in this pathway altered by defective or absent mucolipin, the protein deficient in MLIV. In addition, Dr. Browning continues clinical translational research on the role of fatty acid oxidation defects in pregnancy.
Dr. Browning's current research efforts focus on Fatty Acid Oxidation Defects as well as Mucolipidosis IV.
