Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Children and Adolescents

This online course for healthcare professionals should take approximately 2 hours to complete.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common condition in children and adolescents, and is increasingly recognized as persisting into adulthood. In younger children, physicians and parents make treatment decisions, which are imposed upon patients for their benefit. As a patient matures, recognition of the condition increases and collaboration becomes more important in targeting symptoms to be treated. This activity will present a case scenario drawn from a specific patient case and will take the learner through common presenting symptoms, discussion of the diagnosis, medical and behavioral treatment and monitoring of treatment efficacy. Nested case questions will be presented at various intervals to discuss diagnosis and treatment.
