Every year, a seasoned group of pediatric residents complete a chapter in their training, and a fresh face of new interns walk the halls. The MGHfC Pediatric Residency and Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Programs kicked off the switch this year with a series of events in early June, including the 2013 Pediatric Residency Graduation Ceremony on June 11. During the ceremony, Residency Program Director Shannon Scott-Vernaglia, MD, said, “It’s been amazing to watch you grow and come together.” Of the 24 graduates, nine are going on to fellowships, and the remainder will be continuing as hospitalists or in primary care.
The tight knit group gathered together with the new interns at the annual Change Party, a time of friendly jokes and skits, and the interns celebrated their new endeavors with a welcome reception and barbeque. “It’s always fun to see the excitement and motivation of the new interns,” says Med-Peds Residency Program Director Evangeline Galvez, MD.
