About Dikla Eckshtain, PhD

Dr. Dikla Eckshtain is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School. 

Dr. Eckshtain received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Western Michigan University. She completed her predoctoral internship at Children's Hospital of Michigan and her Postdoctoral Fellowship at Judge Baker Children's Center, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Eckshtain is an Associate in Psychology in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University. 

Dr. Eckshtain's research focuses on the development, evaluation, and dissemination of interventions for child and adolescent depression.  She has a particular interest in the development of adaptive interventions, which provide clinical guidelines for selecting, combining, and sequencing interventions to personalize the intervention approach. Dr. Eckshtain's research also focuses on the individual, parental, and familial variables contributing to the development and maintenance of youth depression and the development of ways to target these variables in treatment. Dr. Eckshtain developed a parent training manual for parents of depressed children (Caregiver–Child Relationship Enhancement Training; C–CRET) and she conducts research on ways to refine methods for caregiver involvement in treatment. Dr. Eckshtain is the recipient of a K23 Career Development Award from the National Institute of Mental Health. She is the founder and Chair Emeritus of the Child and Adolescent Depression Special Interest Group at the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. 

Dr. Eckshtain specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and parent training for children and adolescent with mood and anxiety disorders and has particular expertise in treating youth depression.
