Typical Schedule:  Below is a standardized schedule.  Each individual resident’s schedule may vary from the schedule of another by 2-4 weeks each year. 

All residents have 2 two-week vacations each year.  All residents have a ½ day continuity clinic each year.  PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents have a ½ day of block educational time known as the “longitudinal curriculum” that covers topics in ambulatory pediatrics and personal and professional development.

4 weeks Community Inpatient Medicine (NWH)
4 weeks MGH Well Baby Nursery
4 weeks MGH NICU
4 weeks Developmental Pediatrics
2 weeks Pediatric Surgery 
2 weeks Electives

PGY2

12 weeks Electives
8 weeks MGH PICU
8 weeks of MGH Inpatient Medicine (mix of day and night rotations)
6 weeks MGH Emergency Medicine
4 weeks BWH NICU and Delivery Service
4 weeks Ambulatory Pediatrics
4 weeks Adolescent Medicine
2 weeks Community Inpatient Medicine at Newton Wellesley Hospital

24 weeks Electives
8 weeks MGH Inpatient Medicine (mix of day and night rotations)
8 weeks MGH Emergency Medicine
4 weeks Senior Teaching Rotation
4 weeks MGH NICU
