Community Comes Together to Fight Cancer

Nikki Schlinder presented a $6,055.00 check to her physician, David Ebb, MD, pediatric oncologist at MGHfC.

The Norwell Middle School community recently came together to present the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at MassGeneral Hospital for Children with a $7,000 check, the result of its month-long childhood cancer awareness fundraising initiative, Going Gold for Children’s Cancer. The contribution was presented by 13 year-old student and brain cancer survivor Nicole Schindler to her physician David Ebb, MD, pediatric oncologist at MGHfC, to help raise awareness of and provide for support pediatric cancer research.

During Going Gold for Children’s Cancer month, Nicole partnered with several local businesses, including Doorknock Dining Norwell and Kappy’s Fine Wine & Spirits, Norwell Men’s Softball League, and Red Rose Café, to sell her “Go for Gold CUTE T” t-shirts. Additionally, the Middle School held a Gold Day fundraising rally in honor of Nicole and her fight against cancer.
