Parents are invited to stay overnight in their child’s room on the pediatric inpatient floors. Pull-out chairs and cots are available, and each room has its own bathroom.
It is generally recommended that one parent stays overnight; in some cases, it may be acceptable for both to stay overnight. The Social Work department maintains a list of hotel accommodations near the hospital.
For extended stays, Beacon House, a short-term apartment rental facility and the Charlestown YMCA are available.
For extended stays and for families with a child being treated for cancer, Christopher’s Haven is a home away from home located near MassGeneral Hospital for Children.
For international families, the Massachusetts General Hospital Phillips House is available, complete with amenities and services such as specially prepared meals, daily newspaper delivery, and more.
