Families from all over the world come to MassGeneral Hospital for Children. Our medical interpreters are available around the clock to assist non-English speaking and hard-of-hearing or deaf patients and families with over sixty-five languages. Interpreters are specially trained in medical information and follow the guidelines of the Massachusetts Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics. They are here to help families understand medical terminology and processes, to ensure compliance with care specially designed for your child, and to ensure patient and family satisfaction.
While at the hospital, feel free to call 617-726-6966 / TTY 617-726-0354 to make an appointment or to find out about a child admitted to the hospital. The office is staffed Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to midnight and on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The Medical Interpreter Services department is located at the main hospital campus, 55 Fruit Street, Clinics Building, Room 141.

For Deaf and Hard of Hearing Patients
Additional resources are available for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors and patients. TTY pay phones are located at the main entrance of the hospital. If your child is admitted, ask your nurse for a TTY machine. Also, sign language and oral interpreters, TDDs, and other services are available free of charge, to ensure effective communication between staff, patients and patients' families.
