Teaching Senior
The teaching senior rotation is a 2 to 4 week rotation in the PGY-3 year. During this rotation, the resident runs Resident Report, a conference held daily at MGH from 12 to 1 pm in the Ellison 17 conference room. This conference is teleconferenced to Newton Wellesley Hospital, North Shore Children’s Hospital, and Cambridge Hospital.
The conference is designed to allow the residents to improve their teaching skills while educating the residents about recent admissions to any of the wards to which MGHfC residents rotate. The teaching senior has wide latitude as to how the conference is organized, and is encouraged to invite faculty to attend. The conference is interactive in nature, often involving mystery cases.
Residents of all three years, the hospitalist and teaching attendings, as well as medical students, are expected to attend the conference. Dr. Howard Weinstein serves as faculty advisor to the teaching senior.
