Meet the Team
Occupational Therapy helps to facilitate a child’s ability to learn and maintain skills in all areas of development. Our pediatric occupational therapists evaluate and treat children of all ages using standardized testing, clinical observations, information gathering and parent/child and/or school interviews. The goal of the evaluation is to analyze the child’s functional performance in different areas to identify strengths and limitations that are interfering with functional abilities.
Occupational therapy treatment for children is comprehensive, addressing sensory processing and sensory modulation issues, fine motor skills (eye-hand coordination, handwriting and motor planning skills), learning skills (visual perception and attention), self-care skills and/or psychosocial skills (play, socialization). Integral to the treatment process is the involvement and education of the family and school system as well as providing information regarding community resources.
Pediatric occupational therapy services include:
- Individualized treatment programs for home and school
- Comprehensive evaluations of developmental skills, fine motor skills, handwriting abilities, learning readiness and self-care skills
- Consultations to preschools and school systems regarding Individual Education Plans (IEPs), school placement, adaptive equipment and general programming
- Sensory processing and sensory modulation evaluations including the Sensory Integration Praxis Test (SIPT)
We provide innovative care to patients of every medical and surgical specialty. Occupational Therapy Services treat pediatric patients at our main campus in Boston and at our community-based HealthCare Center in Chelsea.
