The annual Henning Pontoppidan Visiting Professor, William E. Hurford, MD, presents "Barotrauma, Blackberries and Best Practice: How We Use and Abuse Discoveries."
Dr. Hurford is professor and chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to that, he was chief of the Critical Care Division in the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine and medical director of respiratory care.
For more than 25 years, Dr. Hurford has worked clinically as an intensivist and as an attending anesthesiologist caring for patients undergoing thoracic surgical procedures. His research interests include inhaled nitric oxide therapy and the metabolic and physiologic consequences of hypoxia. He is a former chair of the Anesthesiology Section of the Society for Critical Care Medicine.
