Goals and Objectives

The goal of the lecture is to help participants:

  • Understand the basic EEG characteristics of sedation and ischemia
  • Recognize burst suppression on an EEG spectrogram
  • Recognize spectral signatures of anesthetics commonly used in the ICU
  • Understand the rationale for continuous EEG monitoring in subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)
  • Understand the need for multimodal monitoring in detecting delayed ischemia in SAH
