The Clinical Research Program (CRP) is an initiative to enhance professional and career development of clinical investigators and the quality and quantity of clinical research at MGH. The program offers services to the MGH clinical investigative community through:

  • Educational Programs for clinical investigators and study coordinators.

  • Clinical Research Support Office (CRSO) assists investigators with study design, identifying potential funding sources, and implementing clinical studies including assistance with subject recruitment and study coordination. The CRP offers mentoring for new investigators, access to industry for support of investigator-initiated clinical research and partnerships to advance genomic and genetic research, and coordination with Partners HealthCare System and Harvard Medical School.

  • Disease Management and Outcomes Research supports initiatives to foster hypothesis-driven research to improve outcomes of patient care, and career development of junior faculty conducting clinical outcomes research.

  • Information Management Unit, based at the MGH Laboratory of Computer Science under the direction Henry Chueh, MD, offers services to investigators in partnership with other CRP units. The primary mission of the unit is to develop major pieces of information technology infrastructure that will support key clinical research activities.

  • Genetics/Genomics Research Unit supports clinical researchers focusing on genetics and genomics. Mentoring for new investigators and coordination of MGH-based research with Partners genetics and genomics resources are available through the Harvard Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics website.

Faculty from the CRP can help during the "incubation" period, offering counsel as you articulate your idea, refine your hypothesis, and look for sources of funding. A biostatistician can provide initial consultation on study design. Staff can also assist with start-up, including:

  • proposal writing/review
  • budget development and negotiation
  • IRB and regulatory processes
  • recruiting study subjects
  • study coordinators to manage day-to-day protocol activities

The CRP offers these services to promote all types of clinical research: translational clinical trials, epidemiology, outcomes and disease management.
