Referring a patient to a
clinical study
We encourage physicians or dentists in private practices,
hospitals, clinical or other medical organizations to refer patients
to clinical research protocols. Investigators who are actively recruiting
participants for clinical studies submit summaries of studies that
appear in the Clinical
Trials list. The summaries indicate a contact for parties interested
in learning more about the study. If a contact name does not appear,
then the contact is the principal investigator.
Patients accepted to participate in a protocol must
have a responsible understanding of their role in a research protocol
and must be able to provide informed consent to participate. Patients
(and/or their insurance company) may be asked to pay for tests and
procedures that are standard care but won’t be asked to pay
for tests and procedures performed for research purposes.
