Chemotherapy Clearance and management of oral complications

Patients who are planning or undergoing chemotherapy may be referred to a hospital-based general dentist to manage any dental disease and to reduce the risk of complications.

Chemotherapy can cause anemia, bleeding, and a lowered immune system.  At the same time, the mouth is a common source of infection and a potential site for such complications.  Our general dentists have special hospital-based training and expertise in helping cancer patients prepare for their chemotherapy and in managing any oral complications during and after chemotherapy.
