Maxillofacial trauma is trauma to the head and face region caused most frequently by accident, injury or violence. Care for patients with type of injury often originates in the Emergency Department and may involve treatment, restoration and follow-up care by a team of dental specialists, including oral surgeons, prosthodontists, orthodontists, and general dentists.
