Mission Statement & Goals

The Massachusetts General Hospital Dietetic Internship is currently granted accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association (CADE). Mission
The mission of the Massachusetts General Hospital Dietetic Internship is to prepare graduates to meet the high standards of performance expected of entry-level dietitians in any of the areas of dietetic practice.

Goal 1
Graduate competent entry-level dietitians.

Outcome Measures:

  1. Pass rate of at least 90% on the RD Exam
  2. At least 90% employed within 6 months
  3. Employers rank graduates as well prepared
  4. Interns meet expectations of each rotation.
  5. Program responds to trends and acts on suggested changes/improvements
  6. 95% of those enrolled graduate.

Goal 2
Graduate individuals who contribute to professional/ community organization(s).

Outcome Measures:

  1. At least 80% belong to a professional or community organization(s).
  2. At least 50% serve on committees or hold office in an organization(s).
  3. Interns attend one professional meeting
  4. Interns provide nutrition education to a community group.

Goal 3
Graduate individuals who will emulate high standards of performance and professional values.

Outcome Measures:

  1. At least 70% of graduates intend to attain additional certification or graduate education.
  2. At least 90% report the internship fostered professional competencies.

The MGH Dietetic Internship is currently meeting its goals by exceeding the measurable outcome standards.
