Selection Criteria
We use the American Dietetic Association standard application form and prefer use of the standard reference forms as well. If would like to have a paper copy sent to you, please contact Kathleen Creedon at the address listed below.
The items necessary for your application include:
- Completed American Dietetic Association standard supervised practice program application form.
- Three letters of reference from persons qualified to give pertinent information. References should address your academic ability and your potential as a dietitian. We prefer one reference addressing your clinical skills, one addressing your foodservice management skills and a third attesting to your abilities to perform job responsibilities. Photocopies with an original signature are acceptable.
- A typed letter of application that describes your abilities/achievements in our six criteria areas. The six criteria areas can be viewed under selection criteria and your letter of application MUST demonstrate how you meet these criteria for full consideration of acceptance to the program. The letter should also include your professional and educational goals, how you think Mass General will enable you to reach those goals and why you chose Mass General.
- Official transcripts of all colleges you attended.
- If your degree is more than 2 years old, include evidence of completion of at least six credits in dietetics related course work or equivalent continuing education courses/seminars within 2 years of admission to the internship.
- Verification statement or Declaration of Intent from your Didactic Program in Dietetics.
- $50 application fee payable to Massachusetts General Hospital.
To be considered for fall admission, all applications must arrive at the address below post marked on or before the same date as the computer matching deadline.
All applications should be sent to:

Computer Matching
To be considered for the Massachusetts General Hospital Dietetic Internship you must participate in D & D computer matching. Computer Matching information and instructions can be viewed by clicking here. Mass General’s code for the D & D mark/sense card is 341.
Decisions made by applicants and dietetic internships are critical and cannot be changed after submitting to D & D. At the conclusion of the computer matching phase, each applicant and supervised practice program will be notified of the computer matching results.
